Facing the Facts, Shaping the Future

A draft health and care workforce strategy for England to 2027

We want to hear views from across the country to inform the development of the Workforce Strategy that will be published in July to coincide with the NHS’ 70th birthday.

The strategy has been developed in partnership by the health and care system (and branded as such). The questions in this consultation are deliberately broad as we want the fullest debate and no issue or suggestion should be excluded. We also welcome specific comments on elements of the strategy. Thank you for joining the conversation.

How to contribute

1. Join the online workshop

This is the most immediate and most interactive way for you to share your feedback - any time, anywhere, from any internet connected computer, tablet or smartphone.

For joining instructions see the section on the side of this page (or at the bottom of the page if you're on a mobile phone).

2. Join a local event near you

If you work in health and care, and have a focus on workforce matters, you may be already attending meetings where the Strategy is discussed.  Your contributions are being fed back to inform the final Strategy.

3. Host your own event

Do you want to host an event in your area?

4. Responding on behalf of your organisation

The easiest way to respond on behalf of your organisation is through the online workshop. This way, others can see your ideas and suggestions and offer their feedback.

Simply tell us you're doing so in the gateway questions and tell us on behalf of which organisation you're sharing your views.

Adult Social Care Workforce Consultation

As the delivery partner for the Department of Health and Social Care, Skills for Care is running a linked consultation building on the adult social care workforce question in the HEE consultation, and ask for your views and evidence on a wide range of questions designed to explore what actions could be taken to address a number of workforce challenges specific to the adult social care sector.  The outcomes of this linked consultation will inform the final health and care workforce strategy planned for publication in July 2018. They will also inform the content of the forthcoming Department of Health and Social Care Green Paper on care and support for older people.

Skills for Care is an independent charity and the leadership and workforce development organisation for adult social care. They support adult social care employers to deliver what the people they support need, and what commissioners and regulators expect. They provide practical support to help leaders and managers recruit, retain, develop and lead their staff. Any consultation responses already provided to HEE on adult social care will be provided to Skills for Care.

The Adult Social Care Workforce Consultation closes at 10am on 9 April 2018 and can be viewed here:
